Re:  Fr. Rex Chambers, Colorado, and his personal ministry on my behalf

Fr. Rex has made a definitively positive contribution to my personal spiritual life.

Specifically, during my extended absence from Colorado, (January 2001, to February 2002) I know that he spiritually and emotionally supported my “significant other”, Nanci Campbell.  Upon my return to Dillon, CO in 2002, he met with Nanci and me, as we discerned our future life together.  He took the initiative to schedule talks with the two of us and each of us individually.  The result has been a most satisfactory, loving life for me with Nanci.

During 2004, both of my two, older, surviving brothers died.  Fr. Rex provided significant spiritual comfort for me as I worked through the personal grief.

In 2002, and 2003 I personally encouraged Fr. Rex to provide Episcopal worship services somewhere in the northern part of Summit County, CO.  In 2004, Fr. Rex arranged and organized an afternoon worship service for us in Dillon (the north end of Summit County).  Attendance climbed into the numbers of 50 souls from a scarce handful.  He was effective in making the small congregation financially independent, while continuing to fulfill his obligations to the congregation of St. John the Baptist, Breckenridge, CO.  I participated with Fr. Rex in the development of St. Francis, Dillon through nearly weekly breakfasts.

I believe that I am typical of the Episcopalians who began worshiping at St. Francis, Dillon, in that I was not pledging to St. John’s and was not more than an occasional worshiper.  I am now both, pledging and fully participating at St. Francis.  That is the result of Fr. Rex’s prayerful and Christian discernment.

I consider Fr. Rex Chambers a personal friend and hold a great deal of admiration for him.

Sincerely yours,
Jack Beckner
