During my adult life, I have lived in no less than ten different cities along the Southeastern Coast.  Each move meant finding a new church, a new priest, a new group of parishioners.  Almost eight years ago I moved to Breckenridge and found what I had been missing in all of those other church communities – Father Rex Chambers.

Father Rex is truly an outstanding man of God.  Both young and old are drawn to him and his amazing hugs.  His homilies explain the readings in the historical context, but being a man of the people, he is also extraordinarily able to relate the scripture to your own personal life in a way I have never before experienced.

Not only is Father Rex a great teacher, but a truly caring man who excels when it comes to pastoral care.  I am certain that every member of the parish could relate a personal experience when Father Rex was there for them during a time of crisis.  For me, it was the get togethers over coffee during an emotionally troubling time in my life, the phone calls just to say hello and make sure I was okay, and the special prayers at the altar when he “knew” I needed them without my even having expressed such a need.

My daughter and her husband were fortunate to have Father Rex perform their wedding ceremony.  It was a beautiful ceremony and Father Rex’s words touched many hearts that day.  A large portion of the guests were from out of town and many of them later approached me to say what a beautiful and moving service it was and then asked, “Where did you find that priest?”.  I was quite proud to respond, “He is my priest!”

For any parish lucky enough to acquire Father Rex Chambers and his lovely and caring wife, Dana, I feel certain that each and every member will also proudly respond, “Father Rex is my priest!”

Sincerely,
India S. Davis
