Fr Rex is a big fellow who looks as if he could wrestle bears and win. What you soon find is that he is about love and commitment. I believe that he epitomizes the result Jesus was after when he asked Peter to build his church.
Fr Rex came to the priesthood later in life. And he has great experiences from which to draw as he prepares his sermons. His messages and delivery are riveting. He is a great story teller and people tend to be good listeners as he brings his message. Services tend to be very uplifting and memorable. And he makes everyone feel glad to be there.
While Fr Rex is a very able administrator and a terrific speaker, I’d say his most important strength is pastoral care. He believes strongly that prayer changes things. As a for instance, he prayed for my mother-in-law (lives in Texas) when she was desperately ill (9 weeks in intensive care). He gave us a prayer shawl that he had blessed and asked that we put it on her bed. Fr Rex prayed for her every day and in so doing gave the family hope. Her doctors as well as family members believe that it is a miracle that she is today not only alive but doing very well. When a family has a problem Fr Rex is there for them. He not only gives a great talk, he walks it.
Fr Rex has a fine family with two sons and two grandchildren. Kids love him from the moment they first lay eyes on him.
