I met Fr. Rex Chambers in the spring of 2005 when I attended my first Episcopal service. Upon entering the church, I was warmly greeted by Fr. Rex with a huge smile and hug. I had never felt so welcomed by a church community and I became a regular attendee. Although I was baptized and raised Catholic, when Fr. Rex offered classes leading to Confirmation/Acceptance into the Episcopal community, I readily signed up. Fr. Rex provided the leadership, information, and inspiration that led to my decision to become an Episcopalian.
Fr. Rex has many attributes that contribute to his being an exceptional priest. He is a strong spiritual leader who cares about people and guides by example as well as with words. His sermons are prayer-inspired, thought-provoking, and often life changing. Fr. Rex is not afraid to share his personal life experiences (even the painful ones), and in doing so, invites the congregation to join him in shared yet individual spiritual journeys. His stories are often entertaining and always inspirational.
Yet perhaps some of Fr. Rex’ most notable characteristics are his genuine humility, kindness, and spirituality. He is committed to doing God’s work and gives willingly and unselfishly of his time and talents especially to those in need.
Fr. Rex is an exceptional priest and will be an asset and a gift to whatever church community God leads him.
